From First Date to Wedding Date

Friday, May 20th, 2011

Last week I was wondering if THE calendar date of the all-important First Date with THE One had lost its meaning. Keeping track of dates in this age of speed-dating, both on- and off-line, and which one is actually THE One would be quite challenging.

But a link to a blog from my dear friends who have been together for a very long time answered my question. It was their Wedding Blog titled “S and P Got Hitched” which documented their trip to City Hall to declare their love! And the date they got hitched? Yup, it was THE date they went out on their First Date…..9 years ago!

S and P, wishing you a lifetime of happiness and joy and may you celebrate this special anniversary for many more years to come!

A Tribute to the IT Boyz in My Life

IT (info tech) remains a mystery to me. I long to be an “Otaku” which I was told translates into “Techie Girl” from Japanese. One of my IT Boyz even gave me a T-shirt that says “Otaku” with a cute anime print.

Alas, the T-shirt didn’t give me the magical power of IT so I could trouble-shoot this poor blog that got bogged down this weekend. But fortunately, lucky me, all I did was put out the call “Otaku in distress” and was immediately rescued not by one but by TWO IT Boyz – one who did the quick fix and one on stand-by.

What more could this Otaku Girl want? Thanks, IT Boyz, for the rapid response and now our blog is no longer bogged and running unclogged!

No Loves Lost Ranking System:
1 for thumbs down
10 for getting our attention and a date!

Overheard in the pub, from a 19 year old boy to a woman 35+ years older, “Hey Ba-byyyy” Gets a zero for diction but a 5 for not knowing any better but still trying.

At the local espresso bar, “Hi, I’ve seen you before…on TV? In a film? Deserves a 7 for getting our attention and an 8 for flattery factor.

From way out in left field, “What do you like to eat? I’d like to take you out for dinner.” Definitely a 9 for knowing the way to a woman’s heart and a 10 for uber smooth execution.

At the flower market while buying flowers for my desk at the office, I heard, “Who are you buying flowers for? Your boyfriend? Your husband? If I were to buy you flowers, I would choose this bouquet.” He then reached for his wallet and paid! And with a huge grin, he handed them to me! A perfect 10 for a very romantic gesture and another 10 for being the deputy mayor!
